What are the Variables in Human Design? Perspective/View Edition
Bottom Right Arrow is about our perspective on life
Grab your matcha and Human Design BodyGraph! (You can look yours up for free here.) We’re about to go deep into one of the lesser known pieces of the chart: The Variables.
In this post, we’re going to look at the Bottom Right Arrow = Perspective/View also known as “the manifesting” arrow.
The Bottom Right Arrow = Perspective on Life
The Bottom Right Arrow is what folks point to when they want to call out “how we manifest” what we want in life. However, it’s helpful to remember that this interpretation of the arrow is relatively new. This was not originally channeled by Ra Uru Hu (the Human Design System’s founder and messenger).
In the source material he channeled, this arrow is about Perspective/View, how your mind is designed to see and conceptualize reality.
The ‘specific vs non-specific manifesting’ thing is a more modern translation people use because Perspective can influence how you relate to goals, outcomes, personal objectives, chasing your dreams, winning the lotto, etc.
Facing Right: looking at life’s big picture and seeing things as broad and expansive might feel more natural than getting into the weeds — in terms of manifesting style, modern HD thought leaders say that it’ll be easier for folks to get what they want in life by focusing on the feelings they want to have, the experience, and broad strokes of their dream life painting.
Facing Left: looking at life’s details and investigating for clarity might feel more natural than taking too big of a view—in terms of manifesting style, modern HD thought leaders say that it’ll be easier for folks to get what they want in life by getting super detailed about their dreams and goals, down to the HEX code color of the thing they want.
Side quest: Should we use this arrow to figure out how to “manifest?”
My interpretation? I’m so glad you asked.
Take this arrow with a grain of salt. What may be more helpful than trying to biohack manifestation with this arrow, or force yourself to outline feelings or details of what you want is making sure you are putting into daily practice utilizing your Strategy to interact with life and Authority to make decisions.
It’s only when you are living more in alignment that you can begin to discern what your dreams really are and actively call them in.
Because how can you chase something you cannot even name yet?
How can you conjure feelings or details if you don’t even know what you’re after?
What we’re really going for when we investigate “our manifesting style” is making our dreams come true faster.
Story time: The Universe doesn’t care if you live by design.
It only matters if you are emotionally and energetically congruent with the version of you that already has the thing you want. Living by Design can HELP you get there.
My client/bestie who has a right-facing bottom right arrow learned she’s “non-specific” Manifestor. So, when I had her write all the intimate details of what she wants in a partner she said “why do I have to do this if I’m non-specific?” To which I basically screamed, CLARITY. ALWAYS. HELPS. She was having a hard time actually feeling what it would be like to have a partner. This put her at a stalemate with the Universe.
She was just naming feelings as instructed to do by another HD blog post: happy, safe, grateful, loved…but she wasn’t actually feeling them. They were also v generic.
Making her write down a detailed story of a date night with her perfect person (something you might only expect a left-facing arrow to do) facilitated emotional visualization. The new list of emotions were: romance, being known, being seen, curiosity and warmth.
THIS is really how we all manifest, no matter the arrow: feeling the feelings of having it already. This is how we become a match for our desires.
The Universe isn’t going to say, “Hey stop making your list of boyfriend requirements, you right-arrow, you!” Of course not! The point of knowing if you’re specific or non-specific manifestor is simply to help you do what feels more natural. But what’s more important is getting to a point of believability and emotional congruence.
So listen, Human Design isn’t the end all be all to manifesting. It helps because it gives you clarity on who you really are and what comes naturally to you. It gives you missing pieces of your manifesting puzzle. But really, the core of it all is that it helps YOU get to know YOURSELF. And when you know yourself, you make better decisions. When you make better decisions, you feel more ease and joy. When you feel joy it’s easier to discern what you want more of in life.
Now, let’s get into more of the details of the arrow as it was meant to be studied.
The 6 Perspective Views
Underneath this arrow there are 6 views. Our view is how we’re design to take in the world in a way that feels good and aligned. It also shows us where we can get off track in our perspective.
Survival, Possibility, Power, Wanting, Probability and Personal
Survival: You are meant to lean into trust. Trust you’ll be taken care of, in the choices you make, in your future, safety, and success. You can get distracted if you lean into distrust of your life and where you’re headed.
Possibility: You are meant to believe in endless possibilities and that everything is “figure-out-able.” You can get distracted if you focus too much on why things couldn’t happen are aren’t possible for you.
Power: You are meant to see how power works, who leads, who doesn’t, where empowerment blossoms and where it doesn’t. You can get distracted if you’re too focused on power for selfish reasons.
Wanting: You are meant to see what needs mending, morphing, fixing or tweaking. You can get distracted if you try to fix it all yourself.
Probability: You are meant to see things practically and from solid ground. You can get distracted if you overcommit, or misunderstand reality.
Personal: You are meant to see how things impact your own life and living without trying to be someone you’re not. You can get distracted if you compare yourself or outsource your intuition.
Are the arrows make or break for living by Design?
As I mentioned, the Bottom Right Arrow is a fan fav in the world of manifestation and quantum leaps. However, it’s only one itty bitty piece of the puzzle. The arrows are an element of design that typically don’t make a ton of sense when you’re just starting to get the feel for HD. They are also known as the transformation arrows because they are the parts of us that show how we can optimize.
But if you were ever part of corporate America, you know you can’t optimize a brand new technology. You need the technology to run decently well on its own, get to know the process, what works and what doesn’t before you can optimize anything. The same goes for working with your Design. You want to master the basics before you worry too much about this particular arrow.
However, the Digestion and Environment Arrows I think don’t get enough airtime and can be game-changing even in early HD journeys! So stay tuned for the next post!
